Sosnowiec

Kazimierz Górniczy district in my photos

Kazimierz Górniczy - a place initially known as a colony, although there is a probability that in the 15th century there was a settlement here, which documents from 1537 describe as an "empty village" Kozmiez (uninhabited), probably KoĽmierz. For many years it was the hamlet of Por±bka and together with it it was part of the Sławków estate of the bishops of Kraków. It gained more importance as a mining settlement in 1874, when coal began to be mined here (in the years 1879-1883 deep shafts were built here) and the Warsaw Association of Coal Mines and Metallurgical Works founded the "Kazimierz" mine here (in 1938 it was connected to the mine "Juliusz"). In 1940, the colonies and hamlets of Por±bka: Kazimierz, Czarne Morze and Szmejka created a new commune of Kazimierz. In 1956 it was granted the status of a housing estate, and in 1967, after the former settlements of Niemce and Ostrowy had been incorporated, Kazimierz Górniczy obtained municipal rights, but lost it in 1975, when it was incorporated into Sosnowiec as a district.
