Sosnowiec

Jęzor district in my photos

Jęzor - according to legend, the settlement was established after the Napoleonic Wars, which destroyed the hamlet belonging to the village of Niwka, located around the mill of Mateusz Sośnierz, also known as Jęzor (the mill existed already in 1590 and its ruins were still visible in 1867). After the hamlet was destroyed, the inhabitants moved to the opposite bank of the river at the mouth of the Biała Przemsza River to the Przemsza River and founded a new settlement, also known as Jęzor. After 1945, in the area of ??Jęzor, several shallow fallen hard coal mines (Jęzor II, IV, V and VI) and one opencast mines (Jęzor V) were opened. They were under the management of the Komuna Paryska mine in Jaworzno. These mines ceased to exist in the 1970s.
The housing estate in Jęzor is situated in the area between Orląt Lwowskich Street and the national expressway no. 1. It is mostly low-rise, consisting of single-family houses. The Designer Outlet Sosnowiec Shopping Center is located on the premises of Jęzor. A significant part of the district's area is forested
In the past, Jęzor belonged to Jaworzno, it was not until 1953 that the district was incorporated into Sosnowiec together with Niwka, Dańdówka, Bór and Bobrek. Since then, it has been part of the southern districts of the city.
