Dańdówka district in my photos

Dańdówka - already existed in the 13th century, but it became famous only at the beginning of the 19th century, when coal began to be mined nearby. In 1806 an opencast mine "Dańdówka" was opened here (in 1841, Hieronim Łabędzki, who wrote the history of mining, also noted the folk version of the name "Najdówka"). At that time, the village had only 8 cottages. The mine belonged to local landowners and supplied coal to nearby zinc smelters. Later, the mine began to be beaten with a deep system, calling it "Andrzej", but the operation lasted only until 1846. A zinc smelter was built in the settlement next to the mine, which was also closed in the middle of the century. Around 1840, there was a refractory clay mine northwest of the village. In the years 1900-1908 the mine was re-operated as "Andrzej" by Józef Wrzosek, who leased it from the Sosnowiec Society of Mines and Metallurgical Works. It belonged to the Niwka commune and in 1953 it was incorporated into Sosnowiec.
