Bór district in my photos

Bór (also Porębski or Pustkowie Bór) - a small village, an old forest hamlet of Niwka, formerly the hamlet of Por±bka. South-east of Niwka, situated between Biała Przemsza and the Bobrek stream. It was mentioned in the visit protocols from 1611 (Porębski, as Bor de nova radice, i.e. a newly founded village on a raw root. It was made up of several farms located far from each other, located behind the forest south-west of Por±bka, on the Biała Przemsza River. In the 18th century and at the beginning of the 19th century the inhabitants of the hamlet were engaged in fishing; later, carriers and porters for lighter were recruited from among them, with which Przemsza transported industrial goods and coal to the Vistula. Before 1914, there was a border cordon (watchtower) at the Russian-Austrian border running along the Biała Przemsza river. In 1915, despite being a part of Por±bka for many years, Bór was incorporated by the occupiers into the newly created commune of Niwka, which was incorporated into Sosnowiec in 1953. Currently, Bór belongs to the Niwka district.
