Electrotechnical Secondary School

1989 - 1994

On 9 June, 1989 I finished Primary School and in the same month I passed the entrance exam to the Complex of Electronics and Informatics Schools in Sosnowiec at Jagiellońska Street, 13. Prior to that, I wrote an application to the administration of the school for accepting me into the students' circle and my primary school headmaster issued an official nomination for me as a school leaver. As the students were divided into classes by criteria known only to the School's headmaster, I moved myself to class C that allegedly had the highest level of teaching. From the first class I was taught maths by Mr Król who, in the Polish 6 grade-scale, only recognised such marks as good, satisfactory and unsatisfactory. Studying Electronics took me the following five years, especially 3rd, 4th and 5th class. A considerable amount of vocational training and professional subjects, as well as highly qualified teachers ensured my personal progress at the proper level. Physics was well taught by Mrs Szczepanik with an emphasis on logical thinking, digital electronics by Mr Tarnawski. Digital electronics' laboratory was run by nice Mrs Maj and Mr Dziedzic, who rewarded those of us who wore a cap and long johns in the winter. In 4th class my friend Gregory's father bought a camera recorder and from then on we recorded most of the events at school. At the beginning of 5th class a hygienist made the last measurement of my silhouette.

It was also the time when we started to write our graduate thesis. We decided to make a model to test parameters of operational amplifiers which also enables setting any of the working systems of ULY7741 operational gain. This research took us a few months. The casing was made in a way to ensure the highest functionality and possibly minimal dimensions of the model through separating the control panel and the main board. It was an innovation in our school when we designed and made the power supply system with the STANDBY function and the control system of the model by means of logic systems with digital brackets and little SIEMENS relays. On 18th April 1994 I defended my graduate thesis receiving an "excellent". It was also the day of my 20th birthday. The time at school was made enjoyable to us and our teachers by Jarek Cyba and his Ninja cabaret. When I was at the final class I decided to learn English in a private school in Sosnowiec and I finished the course receiving the certificate at the "upper intermediate" level. Also then, somebody decided to make an order in toalets, at last.

Like everyone I took my Matura exams (A-levels) in May, I passed maths with a "very good", a Polish language with a "good" and English with a "very good". As the previous school I finished my Technical School on 9th June, the only difference being that this time my tutor presented me with the certificate of secondary education (certificate of maturity). Again I asked all my classmates to put their signatures on the same card as a memento.
