McDonald's
Soon after starting my studies at Silesian University at the end of 1994 I started working in McDonald's in Katowice in order to earn any money in my free hours. It's typical McDonalds' policy to employ not very rich students as a cheap labour force, still giving them opportunity to decide about their working hours. In this restaurant I worked in a number of positions: preparing and serving ice cream, chips, cakes, drinks, room service kitchen service-barbecue, rolls heater etc. I was obliged to make a laboratory salmonella test of the faeces in the sanitary-epidemiological station in Sosnowiec. As a typical capitalist McDonald's counted all the company's losses: all rolls, meat, plastic mugs that fell on the floor went to the special basket whose content's value was carefully estimated at the end of each day. All the workers were entitled to one free meal per day as long as they had already worked 6 hours.
In 2002 - as a memento of my work, I sent a request to McDonald's headquarter in Warsaw to give me a duplicate of my work certificate as the original one disappeared somewhere. After 6 months I finally received my certificate of employment, in which one can see that after two weeks of working for McDonald's I became a millionaire and shortly afterwards, after denomination which took place on 1 January 1995 I earned 377 złotych in 2 months.
